The official first blog!

So, we (I) decided to start a blog because our work schedule is basically the complete opposite of the rest of the world and it is hard to keep in touch. With us both working nights and mostly weekends, it seems like weeks go by that we don't even communicate with anyone but each other. I know there are many times we almost call someone and remember that not everyone is up at 1am working out, and sometimes we get early morning phone calls that go unanswered (no offense). So, this seems like an easy way for us to keep everyone updated on what is going down in the Bickford house. Now, I am sort of lazy when it comes to these things so the posts may be sporadic, but take what you get I guess! :)

I suppose I will go ahead and give a quick update. Joey and I are both working full time. Joey is a Tulsa Police Officer and works hard to protect the civilians of Tulsa. Sometimes the hard work goes unappreciated but that is in the job description, I guess. I worry about him but with me working basically the same hours and days I keep my mind busy. I am working in the Emergency Department at St. John as a Registered Nurse. Needless to say we have lots to discuss when we come home after a long days work! I just thank God that he comes home safely to me every night! We both love our jobs, but we are both itching to go back to school sometime. Joe wants to get a masters in Forensic Psychology and well, there are so many options for me right now so I have a little researching to do.

We just returned home from our second snowboarding trip this year and it was awesome! We went to Loveland, CO and the weather was perfect! It was not crowded or too busy and we got 30 inches of snow during the time we were there so it was amazing! We are planning to go again this December with the rest of the Rowan Family so that is something to look forward to. Here are a few pictures from Loveland.

Zoom. Zoom.

Joey getting a bit of air.

I also caught some air on that little jump.

I must say I am ready to head somewhere warmer for a vacation. We are also currently planning a backpacking trip this summer. It is something Joey and I have been planning and my dad was interested in going so now I think my family might join us. We might have to change our plans though. We had planned to carry everything we would need for the week on our backs and hike about 30 miles or so through the Ouachita Mountains but the other ladies that are going are not too excited about that idea. They would rather set up a camp and stay there all week. They do not like the idea of eating instant meals or tearing down camp every day. Hopefully this does not be another trip we plan for everyone to go on and then it end up only being Joey and I, that happens a lot. But this time we will be able to bring Odin along! I hate leaving him and having to get someone to watch him is a hassle to both them and us. We even got him a little backpack to carry his own food in! It's pretty cute!

That is about it for now. Oh, I am getting Lasik in a week and I am super excited about that. I can't see a thing without my contacts so I think I might just cry the first time I am able to roll over in bed and see Joeys face and not just a big blur! They have already cancelled my surgery on me once (after they gave me medication to make me loony) so lets pray this one is it! I am so tired of wearing my glasses! They are so inhibiting! It is hard to work out, run, play racquetball, and well do mostly anything with coke bottles attached to your face!

Also, on a totally random note...my dad bought some baby chickens for his farm that he is impulsively starting with his wife (not really a farm but he is going to have chickens, pigs, and cows). Sort of funny if you know my dad but I am just in love with the chickens so here are a few pictures of the babies!

Me and my little brother, Cody.

Well, until next time...
